Dear Galena Elementary School Families,
Welcome to Galena Elementary School! We are a small rural school of approximately 180 students. The students at Galena Elementary School represent an ethnically and economically diverse group from the northern part of the Kent County Public School System. The rural nature of the Galena area means that the majority of students (92%) are transported to school by bus or car. The population of GALES is reflective of the many communities that it serves. Galena Elementary School successfully serves the families in our area, which has resulted in a strong connection between the home, school, and community.

Our school is comprised of three areas that group students according to grade level. Along the front of the building are the main office, music room, gymnasium, prekindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. Along the back of the building are the first and second grade classrooms, the art room, and cafeteria. Our other area has third, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms and a science lab. In the center of the building is a large media center, which also has over 20 computers.
Technology enhances the quality instruction provided by our teachers. Throughout the building, there are opportunities for students to access the benefits that technology offers. All classrooms have access to computer carts that have iPads, iPods, and Chromebooks. Each classroom also has a Promethean board, with many supporting devices.Family involvement is an important aspect of our school.
The PTA sponsors many activities and programs including our annual Fall Fest, movie nights, Original Works, Scholastic Book Fair, and cultural arts assemblies. We have a number of volunteers that regularly work in our school. The family partnership is vital to the success of our students.
Since the establishment of our school in 2011, we have actively formed traditions that will become a part of the history and story of our school. Teachers, staff, students, families, and the community work together to make Galena Elementary School an exemplary school oriented on student learning.
Welcome to Galena Elementary where we SOAR!
