June 2 asynchronous day; last day is June 9

KCPS Asynchronous Day Friday, June 2; Last day of school Friday, June 9

ROCK HALL — Friday, June 2 will be an asynchronous virtual learning day, while the following Friday, June 9, is the last day of school.

The Maryland State Department of Education allows school systems to continue to designate a select number virtual learning days each year.

There are two types of virtual learning days: synchronous and asynchronous.

On synchronous days, students log in on their devices and receive live-streamed instruction from their teachers.

On asynchronous days, students receive assignments from teachers that they must complete and turn in when back in the school.

Friday, June 2 is an asynchronous day, allowing teachers time to help prepare and attend Kent County High School's graduation ceremony that morning.

Packets with written assignments will be sent home with elementary and middle school students to complete.

High school students will log onto Schoology to receive assignments — not for online learning.

Don't have Schoology bookmarked? Go to www.kent.k12.md.us./Students.aspx for a link. A video tutorial on how to log into Schoology can also be found on our Students page.

The last day of instruction for Kent County Public Schools is Friday, June 9.

Thursday, June 8 will be a half day for Kent County Middle School and Kent County High School. Friday, June 9 will be a half day for all schools.

Also, as approved by the board, Monday, June 12 will be the last contract day for all 10-month school system employees.

The calendar change reflects that Kent County Public Schools has not used any inclement weather days during the 2022-23 academic year.

Students were originally scheduled to have their last day of school on Thursday, June 15.

Please contact your school with any questions.
